Did you know that your Students’ Association gives away up to $25,000 each year in scholarships and bursaries?

For over 50 years now, the Students’ Association of Mount Royal University has been honouring the exceptional achievements of our members through scholarships and bursaries. We believe in recognizing the successes of Mount Royal students, and celebrating the contributions they’ve made to their campus community in inspiring and enhancing the lives of their student peers.

We know that there’s more to university than good grades, so our awards recognize more than just exceptional scholastic achievement. With awards like the Beyond Disabilities Award, the Gender and Sexual Diversity Award, and the Citizenship Award, we celebrate students just like you – students who make our community lively, inclusive, and engaging.

There are also awards for individual students who are committed learners, who inspire cultural diversity, who have proven themselves dedicated community volunteers, and more. Amounts vary, but student winners can receive bursaries ranging from $500 to $1500. Criteria for candidates include a high level of commitment and contribution to the campus community, including involvement within SAMRU and participation in campus activities. Strong academic achievement and community volunteer contributions to are also taken into consideration.

And there’s not just awards for individual students. Clubs are commended for their hard work, too: awards such as the Excellence in Community Service or the Excellence in Member Services awards recognize student groups and their members who excel at leadership and involvement.

If you want to recognize a member of MRU’s staff or faculty who go above and beyond to make the student experience at MRU memorable and valuable, we also offer the Teaching Excellence and Champion Awards. A brief essay, nomination form, and signatures of supporting students are all that is required to celebrate someone who has made an impact in your life!

There’s over $25,000 in scholarships and bursaries available to MRU students. To view all of the SAMRU Awards and to find out how to apply, click here!
