Event Details

The high cost of textbooks is a real barrier for many students, especially with the current costs of post-secondary education. To provide the best possible education at a reasonable cost, we need professors, school administrators, and students all on board to make certain that course materials are accessible, open, and available to everyone. That’s why your Representation Executive Council (REC) has been has been working hard to make Open Educational Resources (OERs) available to Mount Royal University students. OER can include free, online textbooks. Access to OERs means access to all your necessary course materials, when you need them – and best of all, at no cost to you.

This January, members of the MRU community are partnering to bring you OER Days, a series of workshops, info booths, and other events to teach you about Open Educational Resources and give students, administrators and professors the tools with which to advocate for more accessible course materials. Come learn about how your representatives are advocating for affordable textbook options, and how you can support your instructors in using OERs in their classrooms.

Check out the Facebook event for details on all the events.
