The Students’ Association of Mount Royal University is hosting a video contest to give you the opportunity to

What we’re looking for: a short video that tells us something about the students’ association. This could be a promotion of our many services that help students get through school, or a feature of something the SAMRU does that you think is important to students; it could be about something that really matters to you that the SA has helped you with, or it could just be something fun involving dancing or singing that showcases why the students’ association improves the student experience on campus. Don’t limit your imagination ... it’s all up to you!
Deadline: The 2011 SAMMIES video contest is closed for the year - check back in September 2011 for another great contest!
• Grand Prize: $1000
• Second Prize: $600
• Third Prize: $400
1. Read the rules and regulations (download)
2. Fill out a Film Permit Application Form (download)
3. Submit your signed Film Permit Application Form to Wyckham House reception (Z222) on the 2nd floor of Wyckham House and receive your filming permit
4. Film your video
5. Submit a DVD with your video in .mpeg format along with the Video Submission Form (download) by Monday March 7, 2011, 4:30pm to Z 222 on the second floor of Wyckham House.
6. Judges will conduct the first round of eliminations, and load semi-finalists’ videos to youtube.com/SAMRU and to www.samru.ca
7. Encourage your friends to vote for you at http://www.samru.ca/events/contest/sammies.htm!
• Video Format: H.264, MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 preferred
• Aspect Ratio: native aspect ratio without letterboxing (i.e. 4:3, 16:9)
• Resolution: 640x360 (16:9) or 480x360 (4:3) recommended
• Audio format: MP3 or AAC preferred
• Frames per second: 30
• Maximum length: 180 seconds
• Maximum file size: 3GB
• You must be the original author of everything in your video, or have permission to use copyrighted material. If copyrighted material used, original documentation must be presented at the time of submission; photocopies will not be accepted.
• Free speech is important, but your submission must not contain/ depict the following: illegal activity, sexually explicit or exploitative material or behaviour, unsafe behaviour, privacy infringement, abuse of any kind, gratuitous violence, material or behaviour that is hateful, defamatory, slanderous or libellous, or discriminatory, including but not limited to: race or ancestry, gender, sexual orientation, religion, nationality, disability, class, physical or mental disability, colour, source of income, marital status, place of origin, family status, or age.
