The MRU Community Garden is a fantastic project joining together the resources of Mount Royal University and the Students’ Association of Mount Royal University to grow local food and local community!

The project can only flourish with sunshine, water, weeding, and careful tending by volunteer coordinators and members. Come sow the seeds of community along with some beautiful squash and tomatoes with MRU staff, faculty, and students by volunteering for one of the many positions available over the spring and summer.

If you don’t know much about gardening, don’t fret! The Community Garden project has a new mentorship program you can join that matches up inexperienced gardeners with individuals who proudly show off their green thumbs alongside their budding sprouts.

The Community Garden is looking for new members to join the garden crew as well as individuals for the following volunteer coordinator positions:
• Communications Coordinator
• Garden Design Coordinator
• Social & Educational Event Coordinator
• Garden Maintenance Coordinator

If you have an hour per week, you too could get a little dirt under your nails this spring and summer and connect with other gardeners – even if you’re highly-committed to your no-lawn lifestyle. For more information, or to volunteer, contact the Sustainability Centre at 403-440-8779 or sc@samru.ca
