The Representation Executive Council (REC) is made up of four Mount Royal students elected by the student population. They are the President, the Vice-President Academic, the Vice-President External, and the Vice-President Student Life. These full-time roles are responsible for representing student interests at Mount Royal University as well as externally to all three levels of government. The four elected students who form SAMRU’s Representation Executive Council act in accordance with the wishes of the Student Governing Board, which is ultimately responsible for governing the Students’ Association. Representatives on REC deal with student representation aspects of the organization, such as tuition and loan policies, lobbying, and external relations. These representatives are your voice, which is why it’s so important for you to vote!

Nomination

Think you or someone you know would be a good fit for one of the REC positions? Fill out a nomination form to throw your hat in the ring! In order to be nominated for any one of these positions, the completed nomination package must contain:

  • The completed Nominations forms;
  • The completed Election Platform form, together with the electronic copy of your platform and digital photograph on CD or emailed to elections@samru.ca (for a 4”x6” photo that is minimum 300DPI);
  • A signed Candidate Authorization form;
  • A Marks Release Authorization form; and
  • A current unofficial transcript including your name and program.

The completed nomination package must be returned to the SAMRU Reception (Z222) during regular business hours between 8:30pm on Monday, December 18, 2017 and 4:30pm on Wednesday, February 7, 2018. No nominations will be accepted later than that date and time.

There will be an information session on Thursday, January 25, 2018, 12:30pm – 1:30pm, during which students will have the opportunity to meet with the CRO to become informed on the elections process and ask any questions related to nominations and campaigning.

The All-Candidates’ Meeting to announce candidates in the election will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 in Council Chambers.
