U-Pass cancelled and savings passed on to students
Many students may know by now that U-Pass has been temporarily deferred until the Winter semester due to Covid-19 and Mount Royal’s transition to online course delivery. You can learn more about the U-Pass here. MRU consulted SAMRU Representation Executives who agreed that this is one way to help students save money since they will not be charged the fee this semester.
SAMRU has discounted bus tickets for MRU students who need them
However, SAMRU also understands that this decision will affect students to varying degrees, which is why we’re happy to let you know that we’ve secured deeply discounted transit tickets for students who rely on the transit system. We’re here to support you and we hope this is yet another valuable service we can offer to make things a little easier.
What’s the deal? Well, SAMRU members (if you’re a credit student, that’s you!) can purchase a book of 10 transit tickets from us for only $21 — which is 40% of the regular price!
Ticket booklets can be paid for and picked up on campus in Wyckham House — your student centre — from Monday to Friday between 9-4. If you’re on campus, then feel free to stop by. We’ve got the requisite safety protocols in place. If you’re the kind of person that likes some predictability, you can always make an appointment by calling 403-440-6077 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
SAMRU is governed by students, so we do our best to provide value and relevant services liek this to our members, MRU students. And while we have your attention, you should know there’s a lot more to campus life than going to class, so consider getting involved and connect with your peers. The easiest way is to join a club or maybe even start your own. You can also volunteer with SAMRU in a number of ways — from helping us deliver services to your peers, to joining various boards and committees to help support your elected representatives voice student needs and concerns. You can even join the SAMRU Student Governing Board when positions become available (part-time volunteer work), or run for a full-time representation executive position if and when they become available.
