More than romance novels or bad fan-fiction, erotic writing can be done and enjoyed by people of all genders, orientations, and lifestyles. It might be short or long, flowery or to-the-point, as long as it turns someone on. As part of March’s Hot Topics series, the SAMRU Pride Centre in collaboration with the SAMRU Peer Support Centre will be bringing Tiffany Sostar from Writing in the Margins to host a facilitated writing workshop for those who want to put their darkest and brightest erotic fantasies to paper.

Open to all sexualities, all writing styles and any experience level, the Smutty Story Circle is a space to explore identity, desire, orientation, history, or fantasy.

The Hot Topics discussion series is an opportunity to learn about and discuss important issues in gender and sexuality with knowledgeable guest speakers from MRU and the Calgary community.

Writing in the Margins workshops are facilitated by Tiffany Sostar. Tiffany is a queer, pleasure-positive feminist and activist. She is genderqueer, kinky, poly, neuro-divergent and invisibly disabled. She is the founder of Possibilities Calgary Bisexual + Pansexual Community, and studies gender and sexuality at the University of Calgary in a combined Women’s Studies (Honours) and English (Honours, Creative Writing Concentration) degree. She is a goth on the inside and a community-building activist on the outside.
