With the warm summer days, don’t you wish you had a great excuse to spend just a little more time in the sunshine?

The MRU Community Garden is a fantastic project joining together the resources of Mount Royal University and the Students’ Association of Mount Royal University to grow local food and local community!

The project can only flourish with sunshine, water, weeding, and careful tending by dedicated gardeners. Come sow the seeds of community along with some beautiful squash and tomatoes with MRU staff, faculty, and students by volunteering as a garden member!

If you don’t know much about gardening, don’t fret! The Community Garden has set up a new mentorship program you can join that matches inexperienced gardeners with individuals who proudly show off their green thumbs alongside their budding sprouts.

If you have an hour per week, you too could get a little dirt under your nails this summer and connect with other gardeners – even if you’re highly-committed to your no-lawn lifestyle, or live in residence. For more information, or to volunteer, contact the Sustainability Centre
