If you left high school still a little bit confused about credit, reducing your debt, or how important it is to plan to pay your bills on time, you likely could use a little help improving your financial literacy. If you have questions about these topics or just want to learn more about how to save for your future, even while still on a low income, the SAMRU Peer Support Centre wants to help.
In November the Peer Support Centre (PSC) will host three Momentum’s Money Management workshops which teach knowledge and practical skills for the present and the future – working within your current budget to make sure you feel confident and supported for your financial future. Don’t graduate without understanding how your student debt will affect the rest of your life!
Workshops include budgeting skills, dealing with credit, and viewing consumerism. Participants are encouraged to sign up for one, two, or all three workshops, which will take place in Council Chambers on the second floor of Wyckham House from 10:00 a.m. – noon.
- Budgeting: control your money – November 8, 2013
- Credit: take charge of it – November 15, 2013
- Consumerism: decide for yourself – November 22, 2013
Only ten participant spots are available for each session, so students need to pre-register. Students can pre-register by emailing the PSC Centre Coordinator, Kellie Nixon, at email@example.com, and can learn more about each individual workshop by visiting the Peer Support Centre’s Web page at http://www.samru.ca/supportservices/psc/ or by visiting the centre in person on the second floor of Wyckham House.
