Election season is officially upon us, folks! You can vote for your 2018-19 Representation Executive Council (REC) March 12-14, and we’re here to help you get ready to hit the polls with this simple, two-step process.

Step 1: Get informed

Make sure to check out the full list of candidates and their platforms when they go live on Sunday, March 11 at 12:00pm.

You can also pick up a copy of our elections supplement at SAMRU Reception (Z222) or in newspaper racks around Wyckham House starting Monday.

Attend the Candidates’ Debate on Tuesday, March 13, 12:00pm – 1:00pm in Wyckham House, where you’ll have the opportunity to meet the candidates, hear their platforms, and ask questions.

Step 2: Go vote!

Now that you have all the info you need, it’s time to head over to samru.ca/vote and make your voice heard! Want the thrill of voting in-person behind a trifold? No problem! An in-person polling station will be available at these times and locations:

Monday, March 12: 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Main Street
Tuesday, March 13: 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, West Gate
Wednesday, March 14: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, West Gate

The main polling station will also feature a photo backdrop, so you can brag to the world that you voted! Make sure to tag @SAMRUBuzz and use the hashtag #SAMRUVotes if you post your picture on social media, so we can thank you publicly for engaging with student democracy!

There will also be one roving in-person polling station at a different location each day of voting, so if you’re holed up studying in EA, EB or Wyckham House, keep your eyes peeled.

The polls are open until 5:00pm on March 14. After they close, join us in the Hub for the announcement of the winners!
