Does the holiday season make you feel like getting involved to help make the holidays better for those around you? You can help out right here on campus and support other MRU students as well as our community.
Donate: Your time
The Peer Support Centre (PSC) is always happy to have a few extra helpers to support our regular volunteers in making the Season of Caring run as smoothly as possible. Help collect food for our food drive, gather hygiene items for our emergency hygiene closet, sell candy canes to raise money for our wish tree, or participate in one of our many other events. You might find you have so much fun meeting other students and contributing to your community that you’ll want to be a PSC volunteer in January too!
Donate: Your spare change
One of our most popular Season of Caring events is the Candy Canes for Pocket Change event where you trade your leftover pocket change for a tasty treat. We’ll have tables at West Gate in MRU where you can get a candy cane to make getting through that next class a bit tastier. All the spare change goes to our Wish Tree program, so your mid-day sweet is also helping to create a happier holiday for another MRU student.
Donate: Non-perishable food or hygiene items
During the Season of Caring we really go all-out collecting for our holiday food hampers, with all of the extra food going to the Calgary Interfaith Food Bank. If you have a little extra room in your shopping cart (or that can of pasta in your cupboard that you know you’ll never eat) consider donating to our food drive! We also have a growing closet of hygiene items, and can always use toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo and other essentials.
