Governor - web bannerDo you want to make a difference on campus, help your fellow students, and gain valuable experience in governance, representation, and leadership? Considering nominating yourself, or someone you know, for a part-time SAMRU Board Governor position!

The SAMRU Student Governor Board, made up of student representatives elected by their peers, works together as a whole for the betterment of the students of Mount Royal University. Collectively, the Board makes up the highestdecision-making body of SAMRU and as such, all Governors have an important role in determining SAMRU’s strategic goals and priorities and makes decisions regarding its resources and policies.

As a member of the Board, you are entitled to a single vote at Students’ Council meetings. All Governors receive training and work experience in hard skill areas such as governance, representation, finances, and Robert’s Rules. Governors are also given guidance in the areas of in team-building, collaboration, effective communication, and leadership.

Beyond the training and experience all Governors receive, as well as honorarium provided for work groups, perks of the position include free tickets to all of SAMRU’s concerts and events, as well as free pop and coffee in The Hub.
