Social Innovation Challenge

The Social Innovation Challenge is in conjunction with SAMRU’s CREATE a Better Now conference which ran January 13-15, 2015, and gives students working on interdisciplinary teams a chance to develop strategies for community engagement and social innovation. It is hosted in collaboration with SAMRU student club Enactus Mount Royal, SAMRU Student club Computer Information Systems Student Society (CIS3), SAMRU Centre for Student Initiative, MRU Institute for Community Prosperity, MRU Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and the MRU Institute for Environmental Sustainability

Social innovation refers to the creation, development, adoption, and integration of new concepts and practices that put people and the planet first. Social Innovations resolve existing social, cultural, economic, and environmental challenges. (

We wish to activate YOUR ideas, generated at Create a Better Now Conference! With a concerted, multidisciplinary effort together we will create innovative, feasible and impactful projects to move forward with; focusing on solutions to pressing issues.

There is approximately $3,000 available in prizes to student teams, and SAMRU student club Enactus intend to take one or more of the solutions developed in this challenge as a project.
