During a full month of activities designed to help MRU students discover their passions and how they fit within SAMRU, the SAMRU’s newest center, the Centre for Student Initiative (CSI) will be hosting “CSI week” from October 7-8th, 2014. With two days of events and activities, students will have the opportunity to learn about the center, and become more aware of initiatives for zero-waste, the community garden and CREATE a Better Now – a student led conference focused on global citizenship, sustainable communities and leadership development.

For students who are not already aware of the services that the CSI offers, this thematic week will introduce students to projects and services offered by the CSI, including the Green Team, SAMRU’s Zero Waste Goal, and volunteer opportunities on campus.

For existing CSI volunteers this thematic week is an opportunity to jump right in and explore new skills. “This week will show volunteers a range of different types of events that reach different audiences” commented Alana-Dawn Eirikson, Centre for Student Initiative Coordinator. “They’ll have the opportunity to learn and develop skills for event management and community outreach” she added.
