Located in Student Residence East Court, SAMRU’s community garden is home to a vibrant and growing community of gardeners who are working to make it an accessible and enjoyable space for the entire campus community. It’s not too late to get in on the fun this season, and if you have even a passing interest in gardening, this is an opportunity you won’t want to miss out on!

Working in the SAMRU community garden is a great way to build your gardening skills, get to know great people, share tools and tips with experienced gardeners, and enjoy some fresh air (not to mention local organic produce). And unlike most community gardens, there’s no cost associated with membership.

Whether you’re brand-new to gardening or an experienced green thumb, there are tons of ways to get involved. Here’s what’s going on this summer:

  • Lunchtime tours: Tuesdays 12pm – 1:30pm. Bring your lunch, get a tour of the garden and take home some tasty garden samples.
  • Garden work parties: Thursdays 4:30pm – 6:30pm. All are welcome to drop in for some light gardening and fun!

MRU students, staff, and faculty alike are welcome to join.
